Different directions! Niall Horan 'snubs Simon Cowell's Syco label to sign with Universal in mega solo album deal'

It appears Niall Horan and Simon Cowell are going in two different directions.

The 22-year-old has snubbed his mentor by signing a 'mega solo album deal' with Universal Music, according to the Daily Star.

'This will come as a real blow to Cowell who has been talking to Niall for months, wanting him to sign a deal with his label Syco,' the paper quoted a US source.

'He made a number of big money offers to try and persuade Niall to sign up but, in the end, Universal came in and put even more money on the table.

'They're chuffed to have got one over on Cowell and have taken one of 1D,' the insider said.

The report claimed Universal's subsidiary label Capitol had originally been expecting to do a solo deal with Horan's bandmate Harry Styles.

But when the 22-year-old decided remain loyal to Sony - which owns the other half of Syco - the rival label reportedly turned its sights on the Irishman.

'Universal said they would pay Niall whatever it took,' the source said. 'They heard his solo music and they all think it's got good potential.'

'Cowell will be unhappy about it. But Niall's thrilled. He's been telling pals he is really excited about his new music and this solo deal.

'It's anyone's guess where this decision leaves One Direction now,' they added.

A representative for Syco declined to comment on the report.

Meanwhile the Sun on Sunday reported Horan has recruited Adele's writer and producer Greg Kurstin to work on his solo album.

'Niall wrote with One Direction but he's got a real talent, and the bosses are hoping to make the most of that by teaming him up with some brilliant people,' a source claimed.
'He wants to move away from boyband stuff and show what he can do, and he's being doing some great work with Greg, among others.

'There was a worry at first that because he came from a manufactured band, he wouldn't be taken seriously.

'But people are queuing around the block to record with him. It's early days, but this record looks like it could really be something special.'

One Direction are currently on an indefinite hiatus and Niall's bandmates are all hard at work on solo projects.

Liam Payne has signed a solo deal with Capitol UK, while Styles - who recently finished filming Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' is believed to have an $80m deal with Columbia, which is owned by Sony.

Louis Tomlinson is believed to be planning to focus on his record label during the break, and he recently teamed up with Cowell to launch a new girl group, who Simon says are 'as good as I have ever heard'.

Adele set to sign £90m Sony deal

Adele set to sign £90m Sony deal.

Reports suggest the Someone Like You singer is negotiating the biggest record deal for a British artist in history.

Adele is reportedly due to sign a deal with Sony Music for £90m, the biggest in history for a British musician. If true, it will double the singer’s current fortune, which is estimated to be at £85m.

According to reports in the Sun, a Sony Music source said: “We’ve secured Adele, who’s without doubt the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive.”

The deal would be bigger than the £80m EMI paid to secure Robbie Williams in 2002. And by beating Whitney Houston’s £70m deal with Arista in 2001, it would make this the biggest deal for a female artist in history.

The Sony source reportedly added: “Adele’s deal with her original label, XL, expired and we’d an existing relationship with her in America. The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US, but is worth £90million and gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world.”

A spokesperson for Adele said they had no comment to make on the deal.

Beyoncé Serves Up Emotional, Personal Film with 'Lemonade' HBO Special

Beyoncé brought world premiere events back into style with her hour-long HBO presentation Lemonade on Saturday (April 23). The visual album was a series of deep cuts that not only dominated the conversation on timelines but also offered an inside look into the mind – and heart – of the mysterious Mrs. Carter.
The emotional ride began with a field of tall plants, a grey stone building and Beyoncé, clad in a black hoodie zipped over her head, singing, “You can’t taste the dishonesty/ It’s all over your breath.” Gasps ensued. “I prayed I'd catch you whispering/ I pray you catch me listening.” Was the opener a public reprimanding of her husband, Jay Z? (Rumors of his alleged infidelity ran rampant surrounding Elevator-gate.)
Before viewers could jump to further conclusions, Beyonce captivated with both her visuals and lyrics. For "Denial,“ she walks over to a building ledge barefoot and jumps off the side of a building before plunging into a bedroom that is underwater, as she asks the question "Are you cheating on me?"

bat and smashing car windows, belting lines like "Don’t wanna lose my pride/ But I'ma fuck me up a bitch” and “What’s worse – looking jealous or crazy?” There is also a Soulja Boy reference here as she repeats the viral line, “I look in the mirror, say wassup?" At one point during the film, tennis MVP Serena Williams also makes a cameo, twerking for Queen Bey.
For a chapter titled "Freedom,” she recruits actress-singer Zendaya, actress Amandla Stenberg as well as supermodel Winnie Harlow, for one of the peak emotional moments of the film, saluting generations of strong black women. The mothers of police brutality victims like Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin later appear with photos of their sons. In both visual and musical form, Lemonade fist pumps to her New Orleans roots and those who share her skin color and ancestral struggle. The voice of Malcom X also makes the cut, saying, "The most neglected person is the black woman.“

In the final "Redemption,“ personal wedding footage of her and Jay Z (who also appears earlier in an intimate clip, where Beyoncé sings beside a keyboard) followed by scenes of the couple with Blue as well as her mother, Tina Knowles and her significant other, among other images of love, shining through as the sky opens and sunlight breaks through over the once drab field that opened the film. Like every endeavor Beyonce’s name is attached to, her every move is calculated, making it no surprise that Lemonade the album dropped as a Tidal exclusive following the special. Prince Roger's Nelson music inspired a generation.

Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was attracted to music from an early age, learning to play instruments and writing his first song at the age of seven.

As a teenager he joined the funk group 94 East, which had been formed by Willie Pepe, the husband of his cousin. The band gained a local following but was forced to disband in early 1979 due to the success of Prince's breakthrough album, called Prince.

That album came one year after his debut album, For You, on which Prince did all the singing and played all the instruments, which included guitars, basses, synths, bongos, congas, finger cymbals, wind chimes, orchestral bells, and woodblocks, to name just a few.

'Prince', which would eventually go platinum, spawned the hit single I Wanna Be Your Lover.

He released an album a year for the next three years, starting with Dirty Mind (certified gold), Controversy (certified platinum) and what would be his biggest album to date in 1982, named 1999.

That album, which went 4x platinum, contained three of Prince's most well-known songs including the title track, Delirious, and one of his signature singles, Little Red Corvette, which despite its undying popularity over the past 30 years never charted higher than number 6 in the US charts.

His next album took two years to make but would become his masterpiece, a work that is widely considered by music critics and fans alike to be one of the greatest albums of all time - Purple Rain.

That album, released in 1984, also served as the soundtrack to the film of the same title released that year by the singer.

Prince brought in a number of artists to sing and play on the album, which eventually went 13x platinum and contained two songs that topped the charts in the US, Let's Go Crazy and When Doves Cry. Those were in addition to the title track and I Would Die 4 U, two more songs many associate with the artist.

The next eight years marked one of the most fruitful times in Prince's career with the release of one album every year; Around the World in a Day (2 x platinum), Parade (platinum), Sign o' the Times (platinum), Lovesexy (gold), Batman (2 x platinum), Graffiti Bridge (gold), Diamonds and Pearls (2 x platinum) and Love Symbol Album (platinum).

Those albums contained singles including Kiss and Batdance from the 1989 film Batman, and Cream which all topped the charts, as well as Raspberry Beret, Diamonds and Pearls, and the Sheen Easton duet U Got the Look.

Prince went on to release 23 more albums in the past 21 years, though none reached the success of his work in the 1980s as he adopted a more experimental sound with his work.

The one exception to that was his 2004 work Musicology, which went 2x platinum and won Prince two Grammy Awards for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance Male.

He released his final two albums last year - HITnRUN Phase One in September and HITnRUN Phase Two in December.

In addition to his financial success thanks to his sales, he also enjoyed much critical success, especially in the early years of his career.

He won seven Grammy Awards over the years, with his last win coming in the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2008 for his song Future Baby Mama.

He was nominated an impressive 32 times for music's biggest prize, with Purple Rain and Sign O' the Times getting Album of the Year nods and the singer also landing a Song of the Year nomination for writing one of the most popular songs of all time, the Sinead O'Connor ballad Nothing Compaes 2 U.

He also won the Best Original Song Oscar at the 1985 Academy Awards for Purple Rain.

Doe B was only 22 years old. The woman dead on scene was Kimbrele Johnson, a 21-year-old, and unbelievably 6 others wounded.

According to CNN.com:

“The circumstances surrounding the shooting were initially unknown, but further investigation indicates that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between McWilliams and Thomas,” a Montgomery Police news release said Monday.

The Montgomery rapper was signed to the Hustle Gang Label earlier this year. Doe B who released his mix-tape this year “Baby Je$us”, uniquely known by his eye patch, which he wore due to a non related shooting about three years ago. Doe B was first introduced on the Hustle Gangs ” G.D.O.D compilation and recently dropped a video for the popular hit “Let me find out” feat. T.I and Juicy J as well as “2Many” featuring Rich Homie Quan.

As suspected The Montgomery’s mayor closed the club down after the repeated violence.

Mayor Todd Strange stated:

“I believe it is not a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when’ the next tragic incident occurs at this business,” Strange said. “That is unacceptable, and that is why we have ordered the business to be closed effective immediately.”

T.I recently released Statement previously confirming the rappers death.

“RIP to my lil brother Doe B. We gon miss u my n—-. U’ll never be forgotten & U WILL NOT DIE IN VAIN. We Love U champ. Always. Just rest now my n—-….WE GOT IT From here,” Tip wrote.

Interesting enough the mug shot of 25 year old Jason McWilliams shows him with a patch over right his eye just like rapper Doe B.

'Duck Dynasty': A&E resuming show with Phil Robertson

"Duck Dynasty" supporters have won their standoff with A&E: The network has reversed its suspension of star Phil Robertson for making anti-gay comments, and he will not miss a single episode of the upcoming season.

Shooting will resume in the spring, and will be accompanied by a series of public service announcements "promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in 'Duck Dynasty,'" the network said.

The network suspended Robertson last Thursday after he compared gays to "drunks" and "terrorists" in a GQ interview in which he also said African-Americans were perfectly happy before Civil Rights.

But the network suffered a huge backlash from "Duck Dynasty" fans and social conservatives, who said it had limited Robertson's right to free speech.

A&E may face another backlash for the decision to cave on the suspension — but it tried to minimize it by dropping the news on the slow Friday evening between Christmas and New Year's.

The standoff created a catch-22 for A&E: "Duck Dynasty" is the most popular reality show on cable, but ignoring Robertson's comments would have made it appear insensitive. After Robertson was suspended, the rest of the cast put A&E in a bind by saying they couldn't imagine doing the series without their patriarch.

When A&E suspended Robertson, it said in a statement that it was "extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series 'Duck Dynasty.'"

"His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community," A&E added. "The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely."

On Friday, it explained why it had abandoned that decision.

"While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article," the network said. "He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate.' We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

"But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views," A&E added. "It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family... a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about."

A&E spoke with both GLAAD and the Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition, both of which objected to Robertson's remarks. Jackson said Monday that Robertson's statements were more offensive than those of the Montgomery, Ala. bus driver who ordered Rosa Parks to give up her seat to a white passenger, a moment that launched the Civil Rights Movement.

But others rallied to Robertson's defense. The petition IStandWithPhil.com, which called for his reinstatement on "Duck Dynasty," yielded 250,000 signatures in a week.

Here's the full statement from A&E:

As a global media content company, A+E Networks' core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people's home and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principals.
That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson.

While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the "coarse language" he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would "never incite or encourage hate." We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family& a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.
