Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's office Made "on" China

Spanish PM mixes up quake & train crash in condolences.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's office mistakenly expressed condolences to Chinese earthquake victims instead of train derailment victims.

A glaring typographical error by Spanish officials has embarrassed Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's administration and attracted widespread criticism as the country deals with the fallout from a train derailment that killed at least 80 people in Northern Spain on Wednesday.

Rajoy's office issued a condolence statement Wednesday that in one paragraph mistakenly conveyed sympathy for victims of Monday's earthquake in Gansu, China, in addition to the train derailment victims near Santiago de Compostela, where Rajoy is from, The Telegraph reported.


"I wish to convey my sympathy for the loss of life and the huge material damage that has resulted from the earthquake in Gansu," the error read.

It was quickly redacted and the official letter that went out to the train victims' families did not contain the gaffe.

While it's unlikely that Rajoy himself authored the mistake, the error invited scorn and ridicule in a Spanish political environment that has grown increasingly critical of him.

Rajoy is currently embroiled in a financial scandal, accused of receiving illegal campaign funds. He has repeatedly denied all allegations.

You think water moves fast? You should see ice. It moves like it has a mind. Like it knows it killed the world once and got a taste for murder. After the avalanche, it took us a week to climb out. Now, I don't know exactly when we turned on each other, but I know that seven of us survived the slide... and only five made it out. Now we took an oath, that I'm breaking now. We said we'd say it was the snow that killed the other two, but it wasn't. Nature is lethal but it doesn't hold a candle to man.

You see? It's curious. Ted did figure it out - time travel. And when we get back, we gonna tell everyone. How it's possible, how it's done, what the dangers are. But then why fifty years in the future when the spacecraft encounters a black hole does the computer call it an 'unknown entry event'? Why don't they know? If they don't know, that means we never told anyone. And if we never told anyone it means we never made it back. Hence we die down here. Just as a matter of deductive logic.
